DOOM and Madlib have once again joined forces for the new single “Avalanche,” which is now available on 7” vinyl via Madlib’s label, Madlib Invazion. The release comes with an eight-inch-tall Madvillain action figure you can purchase here along with the single.

“Avalanche” has been floating around since the turn of the decade as fans held out hope that Madvillainy 2—the long-awaited proper sequel to Madlib and DOOM’s classic debut as Madvillain—may actually exist. The followup still hasn’t come, and the acclaimed duo has remained mostly quiet, aside from a few non-canonical releases, including Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix—basically Madvillain with new beats—and the Adult Swim loosie “Papermill.” “Avalanche” and “Victory Lap” surfaced in 2011 in a Stones Throw Records podcast.

DOOM and Madlib are notoriously reclusive, so of course there’s no word on whether Madvillainy 2 is still happening. But you can at least listen to “Avalanche” below.
