The endlessly, possibly even too-creative Fiona Apple has debuted an anti-Donald Trump version of Nat King Cole’s classic “The Christmas Song” via her Tumblr. “Trump’s nuts roasting on an open fire / As he keeps nipping at his foes,” Apple’s version of the song begins. “Everybody knows some money and entitlement / Can help to make the season white.” She’s really not mincing words: “He’s got black boys in hoodies locked up on his sleigh / And every working man is going to cry / When they learn that letch don’t care how you live or if you die.”
The image of the Trump family jewels crisping to a well-done sienna orange is a hard one to unsee, but honestly, we’ve got bigger problems this year. Watch Apple sing below; there’s also an audio-only version of the complete song with lyrics here.
