Alejandro-Rose Garcia — better known as the multi-talented, genre-bending artist Shakey Graves — makes busking into an art. He expertly weaves looped guitar riffs together live onstage all while keeping rhythm on a suitcase that pulls double-duty as both amp and drum kit, an undertaking that only serves to bolster Rose’s growing reputation as a technically gifted artist. But his talents aren’t limited to his pedal load out; Rose also injects dusty Texas soul into each of his songs and displays an elastic range that jumps between a folksinger’s gentle warble and a country star’s pleading holler.
