It’s been more than two years since we’ve heard much in the way of new music from Theophilus London. Vibes, his Kanye West-executive-produced debut album on Warner Brothers, came out in early November of 2014. Since his 2011 debut EP, London has always been known for bending genres to his will, and collaborating with indie or alternative artists, as well as bigger pop stars.
This summer, London quietly loosed an unusual remix of Michael Jackson’s “Stranger in Moscow,” as covered by Tame Impala frontman and Rihanna/Lady Gaga favorite Kevin Parker, as well as a new song, “Whiplash,” produced by Parker. Now, the singer, rapper, and producer has dared to collaborate with another indie-rock icon, or rather, psych-pop’s most notorious mad scientist and misanthrope: Ariel Pink.
The duo’s driving, new wave-inflected track is called “Revenge.” It is available now for free download from Fool’s Gold Records, and you can stream it below. According to London’s Twitter, he’s got a new mixtape coming out in the winter of next year; no word if this track will be counting toward that release.
