Japandroids‘ comeback tour announcement came with images of an empty studio, which gave many a reason to believe that the duo had recorded new material. It’s a correct assumption. The Vancouver natives started the return trek last night in their hometown and premiered new songs, according to Brooklyn Vegan. Below, watch full video of a new song called “Arc of Bar,” along with some other assorted footage.
An attendee also took a picture of the setlist. The titles “Near to the Wild Heart,” “True Love …,” “Midnight to Morning,” and “No Known Drink or Drug” are noted as the “(NEW)” songs. “Near to the Wild Heart” shares its name with Brazilian author Clarice Lispector‘s 1942 novel.
Japandroids–who’re scheduled to play three more shows in Vancouver this week–haven’t officially announced their follow-up to 2012’s Celebration Rock. Take a look at their comeback setlist (which the band didn’t 100 percent follow, according to the Instagram user) and footage from the performance below.
