Gorillaz have announced a partnership with Jaguar Formula E Racing, for which “lead guitarist” Noodle will be the new global ambassador. The idea is to inspire a new generation of engineers to try their hand at designing electric-powered cars. Below, watch a short video below of a grown-up Noodle driving a Jaguar around a track, and cooly chiding the other drivers.
Here’s a statement from Noodle on the partnership:
“The young minds of today are the engineers of tomorrow… We are in the driving seat and our imaginations are the fuel. It’s time to lead the charge and build a better world!”
In addition to the band’s burgeoning activity on Instagram, it’s another indicator of promising activity which may hint that a new album is coming soon. Their last record, Plastic Beach, was released over six years ago. [Pitchfork]
