DJ Khaled Demands You Call Him “Billy” in New “Do You Mind” Video

DJ Khaled’s brand is strong enough to be effective in every form of media–his upcoming book is probably the first to have a features list. But music videos are still one of the pillars of the We The Best fortress that defends against They. His latest video is for the “Lovers & Friends”-sampling Major Key cut “Do You Mind.” All of the songs features–Nicki Minaj, August Alsina, Future, Chris Brown, and Rick Ross–appear in the clip.

The video is structured like most other Khaledian epics: DJ Khaled and friends chill in luxurious locales. Khaled, Brown, and Alsina walk on water. Nicki Minaj lounges in a gown, thinking about a lover who’ll “eat the cake and he suck on my toes.” Future hangs out with some ladies. There’s some pretty blatant product placement. Rick Ross wears sunglasses indoors.

The excess is bookended by drama, though. DJ Khaled’s girl is fed up with his lifestyle and throws some clothes from the balcony in a fit of rage at the video’s start. But the man whose first name is his last finds a way to fix his romantic dilemma. The following bit of dialogue closes out the video:

“I’m a lion, and now I have the opportunity to secure the bag on a whole ‘nother level. When you stress me, you stressin’ me. When you don’t stress me, I could maneuver the jungle focusedly [sic]. I’m out here securing the bag for us–key word, ‘us.’ I got a new name in the streets: They call me ‘Billy.’

“I love you, Billy.”
