The First New Twin Peaks Trailer Is Predictably Cryptic and Spooky

David Lynch is bringing back his cult ’90s murder mystery show Twin Peaks on Showtime next year. The reboot’s very first trailer arrived today, and in true Twin Peaks form, it raises more questions than it answers. No new actors or scenes appear: It’s just composer Angelo Badalamenti playing the show’s eeriest theme as his image floats over a dark forest, plus a shadow of Laura Palmer‘s face.

The 79-year-old Badalamenti wrote the show’s iconic original music and returns as the composer in the new rendition. He’s also scored Lynch films like Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive. His Twin Peaks score is so beloved that Xiu Xiu recorded an album-length cover version earlier this year. The new Twin Peaks, which also features Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, and Sky Ferreira, is coming sometime in 2017.
