Mick Jenkins Shares Woozy New Track “Fall Through”

Mick Jenkins is set to release his long-awaited debut album, The Healing Component, this Friday. Last month’s “Spread Love” showed promise and the angst-riddled, BADBADNOTGOOD-featuring “Drowning” was one of the summer’s best songs. Today, Zane Lowe premiered another new track from the upcoming LP, “Fall Through,” on his Beats 1 show.

Over the course of his past few projects, Jenkins has been adjusting his focus, switching from dense wordplay to more melodic songwriting. “Fall Through” finds him blending both sides within aquatic production courtesy of THEMpeople and Rascal. “Who’s post-racial, who’s the most basic? / Who despite that love them all?” the Chicago rapper asks, keeping in line with his album’s theme of love and awareness.

Jenkins also told Lowe in an accompanying interview that he’s already 10 songs into his next album. The release date for that sophomore record is, of course, TBA. For now, make due with “Fall Through” below.
