Thundercat Takes Us Aboard a ‘Bus in These Streets’

attends 'Algo-Rhythms' Exhibition Opening: Exploring How Software Is Changing The Music Experience at Sonos Studio on July 17, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

Thundercat can potently express a wide range of emotions through his virtuoso musicianship and falsetto voice. His mournful hymns are profound, his contemplations carry weight, and his whimsical numbers are purposefully weightless. “Bus in These Streets,” which premiered earlier today on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” is a Saturday morning jingle that fits in line with the latter.

Over a marching 4/4 beat, Thundercat considers the world’s terminal madness as he conducts a saccharine reprieve from it. The results are infectious. “Stuck in the clouds / That’s my story and I’m sticking to it,” Thundercat croons. Right on, brother.
