YG and His Crew Take Over Tokyo in ‘Word Is Bond’ Video

Bompton gets lost in translation

After dropping the video for “Still Brazy,” YG decides to take the G-funk sound to Tokyo for the Slim 400-assisted “Word Is Bond.”

YG was in town to perform at the Public Labo Block Party last spring when he shot the video. What follows is a romp that includes low riders, a bit of dancing, and set repping. There’s also subtitles that translate YG’s verses in plainspoken English. For example: “Had to put the black gates where I live at / Shooters on deck try to pull up you gon’ get jacked” means “I have to protect my home with gates and friends with guns.” Watch the 2Tone-directed clip below.
