The Strokes Bring Their ‘Threat of Joy’ to ‘Kimmel’

The Strokes stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to play their recent Future Present Past highlight “Threat of Joy.” It was an even Strokesier performance than usual, with frontman Julian Casablancas wearing a vintage Surf Style Interplanetary Body Wear windbreaker — and sunglasses at night, natch, though that might just have been so he could dramatically take them off for the song’s climactic “Ah baby, why is it so hard to read the sentence in my eyes?” lyric. Casablancas stumbled around a lot, then dropped the mic and left the stage as the band polished off the “Joy” outro.
