New York-based duo SOFI TUKKER (Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, hence, Sophie+Tucker) made a splash at this year’s South by Southwest — it’s difficult to name a band that hustled harder than they did — and now the electronically minded pop outfit are set to release their debut EP, Soft Animals, later this year. Today they’re dropping the sultry “De?ja? Vu Affair” from the project, and it’s a doozy: Equal parts Ibiza chillwave and guitar-scorched ’80s jam, the song delivers on the promise of their wildly funky viral single “Drinkee.”
Soft Animals will be released on July 8, while “De?ja? Vu Affair” will get its radio premiere on Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 show later tonight. SOFI TUKKER will also tour with M83 this summer; dates for those shows, as well as “Affair,” are below.
