Geniuses aren’t punctual, as Kanye West has proven time and time before. But yesterday, he did try his ass off to make a last-minute, surprise show happen at 2 a.m. in New York City after already rerouting his first Sunday gig from the weather-cancelled Governor’s Ball to a truncated Hot 97 Summer Jam set. First, he tweeted at 1 a.m. “Show at 2am SOLD OUT” as huge crowds swept Webster Hall’s location thanks to associates like 2 Chainz and his wife Kim Kardashian hyping it up.

But it was not to be, after the purported venue tweeted: “There is no late show at Webster Hall tonight. Please get home safely.” Police eventually helped disperse the people waiting, though Kanye and Travis Scott rode around shaking hands through their vehicle’s sunroof, of which you can view footage below.

The DONDA crew tried to find another venue, and talk of Trump Soho caused people to rush over there as well. But at 4:10 a.m., Mike Dean finally tweeted, “Thanks to everyone. We tried pop up shows at 3 places. All shut down.”

Pusha T, Desiigner, Scott, and 2 Chainz did end up making an appearance near Trump Soho this morning at SOB’s.
