Spook School Revel in Nostalgia With ‘Gone Home’

Spook School, natives of Edinburgh, Scotland, made their debut with 2013’s full-length Dress Up, then followed that up with 2015 LP Try To Be Hopeful. The group now returns on the upcoming Continental Drift compilation, set to be released August 26 via Slumberland and Fortuna POP. Splitting the bill with Tigercats, Mercury Girls and Wildhoney, Spook School send up two tracks— “Sometimes I Hide From Everybody,” and the rollicking “Gone Home.”

The latter stands out as a soft-spoken — but no less fun— indie-pop jam. Unfolding quickly, its infectious chords underscore lead singer Anna Cory’s lighthearted vocals:  “And now I’ve gone home, to an empty house where / All of these stories, could’ve been me.” The video also finds her reigning supreme, namely, killing all of her bandmates.
