There’s not a lot of people willing to die on the hill of Nickelback in 2016. The group hasn’t released an album since 2014’s No Fixed Addresswhich met a reception that was lukewarm at best. You may even say that Avril Lavigne’s dislike of Nickelback haters is stronger than the band’s discography.

Lavigne showed this when she went on a mini-Twitter rant yesterday (May 12). The singer was responding to an E! News article with the headline “Justice for Nickelback: Poll Reveals People Actually Dislike One Thing More Than the Rock Band.” The writer wasted no time making a punchline out of the band led by Lavigne’s erstwhile husband, Chad Kroeger: “It’s no secret pretty much everyone hates the Canadian rock band more than dog poo on a shoe.”

Lavigne wasn’t laughing.

Lavigne’s argument is pretty accurate, though. There’s no metric to measure who truly adores Nickelback, but the group’s Facebook page has over 18 million likes. In 2011, Billboard reported that Nickelback really had sold over 50 million worldwide. But Lavigne’s “17 #1 hit singles” claim is questionable; Nickelback only has one No. 1 hit in the U.S. and that’s 2001’s “How You Remind Me.”

The defensiveness does make sense, given that Lavigne was married to Kroeger. After separating last September, the two were spotted together last month at the Juno Awards.

Make Lavigne’s weekend a good one and give “How You Remind Me” a listen below.
