Animal Collective’s new album Painting With has been out for several months, but last night marked the first television performance of the LP’s standout single “FloriDada,” with the band making a psychedelic appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. It’s goofy and the singing on the chorus gets off-measure in a way that’s super frustrating to an ear that’s been trained to hear it differently, but when have Animal Collective conformed to what you want of them?
