Hear Marian Hill’s Brain-Rattling Pop Gem ‘I Want You’

Usually when a pop song feels like it’s knocking around your skull, it doesn’t also sound like it’s actually doing that. But that’s probably the cleverest thing about “I Want You,” the latest song from jazzy Philadelphia pop duo Marian Hill (who describe their music as “classic bass sway”). The track rattles virtually from start to finish, the nervously excited subconscious poking its way out from underneath the song’s otherwise calm, sleek exterior. It’s the perfect sonic approximation of the unexpected rush of feelings that comes from “a glance across a crowded room that changes everything,” as the duo says.

Listen here, and find “I Want You” on Marian Hill’s upcoming debut album ACT ONE, out June 24.
