The Diary, originally intended to be the late MC and producer J Dilla‘s major label debut, has a few gems studded throughout its short runtime. The brightest shining of the bunch features Nas, who delivers a verse on the Madlib-produced “The Sickness.” Today, the bonus cut finally receives the proper video treatment, directed by Ruffmercy.
The video is part-psychedelic, part-nostalgic. Footage of J Dilla posing or lighting up cycle repetitively in colorful, kaleidoscopic fashion before a blue-hued Nas comes through to deliver his verse. It’s a moving collage of two hip-hop legends, and you can watch it below.
