The Flaming Lips Bring ‘Space Oddity,’ Chewbacca to the ‘Late Show’

The Flaming Lips brought their cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” to last night’s Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Frontman Wayne Coyne also returned to his perch on Chewbacca’s shoulders, where he sang “Life on Mars” at the Carnegie Hall Bowie tribute concerts a few weeks ago.

The space colonists of Oklahoma City are clearly passionate about their cosmic forebear: back in February, they devoted half a concert to Bowie covers, and their version of “Space Oddity” just got its own psychedelic funeral video. Watch the Late Show performance below.
