The Montreal-based couple Marie Davidson and Pierre Guerineau are partners in life and music; though they sometimes venture away from one another to record solo albums or produce LPs for fellow Canadians like Dirty Beaches, they come back together and form Essaie Pas. As the electronic duo, they released their fourth full-length, Demain Est Une Autre Nuit (or Tomorrow Is Another Night in English), on February 19. The eight-track record is the couple’s first release through DFA Records and was released with a full album lyric video.
The Ontario duo of Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey, a.k.a. Orphx, put their experimental touch on Essaie Pas’ “Lights Out” from the new album. The remix is a more ambient, binaural beat version of the song, though it maintains the pulsing heartbeat of the original throughout. Orphx will be joining Essaie Pas at their Montreal record release show on March 5.
