Both Wilco and Red Hot Chili Peppers Covered David Bowie Songs Last Night

The former tackled "Space Oddity" in Brooklyn; the latter handled "Cracked Actor" in Los Angeles

Two rock bands paid tribute to the late, great David Bowie in separate concert appearances on opposite coasts last night.

At Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre, Wilco launched their two-day stay with a rendition of the 1969 Bowie cut “Space Oddity,” with Jeff Tweedy guiding the interstellar track around the universe and back again (his vocals crack a couple of times in a way that’s just a total gut-punch of emotion).

Meanwhile, at their benefit concert for Bernie Sanders in Los Angeles last night, Red Hot Chili Peppers ripped through a cover of the Aladdin Sane track “Cracked Actor,” complete with a hybridized Sanders/Bowie drum cover (per NME). “Well we f**ked up on that,” frontman Anthony Kiedis joked as the song came to a close.
