After being introduced by Vice President Joe Biden (who walked onto the Hollywood stage to the tune of the Indiana Jones theme), Lady Gaga performed her Best Original Song-nominated track “Til It Happens To You” from the film The Hunting Ground. After Biden made a fiery plea to the audience to help bring an end to sexual assault, Gaga appeared behind a grand piano. She gave a stirring, emotional performance of the track, which was co-written by Diane Warren and made more powerful when the singer was joined by dozens of sexual assault survivors grasping hands onstage.
