The Golden Peppers Bask in Retro Sunlight With ‘Sometimes (One Night)’

The Golden Peppers, as it happens, is a fictional band fronted and solely operated by Bad Wave’s Patrick Hart, but that doesn’t make the “group’s” new track – “Sometimes (One Night)” — and video any less resonant.

Released as part of the record label 10K Islands’ 2016 “one song every Friday” promise, “Sometimes” is at once both slickly retro in sound — there’s a bit of Mayer Hawthorne and Elvis Costello jangle going on there — as well as immediately modern, too. It’s the type of song that makes you want to get a sleek new haircut and a shoe polish and an espresso before setting off in your (fictional, like the Golden Peppers themselves) open-air convertible into the sunset — plus that sticky, melodica-wrapped guitar riff in the post-chorus is the stuff of Daft Punk’s daydreams. Watch the “Sometimes (One Night)” video below and get familiar.
