Waxahatchee Rates 2015 From One to Ten

An insidious and devastating collection of hard-edged, soft-centered indie-rock gems, Waxahatchee’s Ivy Tripp was one of the few early 2015 releases that sounded just as appropriate in the full bloom of spring, the lazy heat of summer, and the sober maturity of autumn. As an artist for all seasons, we asked Katie Crutchfield, frontwoman for the Philly outfit, to evaluate the year that was for us — rating 2015’s pop-culture ephemera like the Justin Bieber comeback, and news items like the Pope‘s visit to the City of Brotherly Love, on a scale from one to ten, determining a final (and definitive) numerical rating for the last 12 months.
