There’s no better way to celebrate the impending Christmas festivities than with a smoldering new Tove Lo demo, “Influence,” a gift from the Swedish singer that she says is a taste of what fans should expect from her upcoming sophomore album (due sometime in 2016). With choppy, Kate Boy-inspired synths and drum lines, Tove uses the track as a meandering way of explaining what allure feels like at its most base level. It’s plain and simple goodness.
