Radiohead Producer Nigel Godrich Appears in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

After appearing in Junun, the recent documentary about Jonny Greenwood’s recording in India, longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich has moved onto bigger film productions, according to some reports. As some enterprising Redditors pointed out, Godrich appears on the IMDB page for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, credited as a Stormtrooper, FN-9330. Film composer Michael Giacchino also is credited as a different Stormtrooper. All this surfaced last night, when fellow British producer Four Tet tweeted some abstract praise at Godrich: “you were excellent in the film.” Godrich only responded with gratitude, “thanks man!”

Considering that Stormtroopers are mostly masked figures, it’s unlikely that Godrich even gets any facetime, making the above exchange even more absurd. Film director Edgar Wright claimed in a tweet earlier today that he was responsible for getting Godrich the role: “I am happy to say I got Nigel the gig. I owed him one and this was my return gift.” It’s unclear exactly how Wright is connected to the production, but you have to wonder what sort of favor you have to do, such that a part in the biggest movie of the year is an appropriate repayment.
