N.W.A, Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple Inducted to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

N.W.A, Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, and Steve Miller have been announced as the 2016 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The longlist of nominees included Nine Inch Nails, Janet Jackson, the Smiths, the Cars, Chaka Khan, Chic, the JB’s, Los Lobos, the Spinners, and Yes. None of those acts were inducted this year.

Rolling Stone has already spoken to Ice Cube, about his group’s induction. It seemed difficult for him to entirely described the experience, but he said that it finally “solidified the group’s mark.”

“It’s all legitimized in a way because the whole music industry has to honor the group in a way,” he said. “It’s just hard to sum up in words, really.”

The induction will take place April 8, 2016 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and it will air on HBO at some point in the spring. Read Ice Cube’s full interview over at Rolling Stone and revisit Chaka Khan’s interview about her nomination right here.
