“T.I.W.Y.G.,” the title of fierce femmes Savages‘ new track from their forthcoming sophomore LP Adore Life, stands for the first half of “This is what you get when you mess with love.” It’s the refrain that frontwoman Jehnny Beth opens the head-banger with and repeats throughout, her strained warble veering between growling, rapping, and the occasional “Uh!” over Fay Milton’s hammering drums. The revving tempo nearly leaves skid marks but Savages never lose control, snapping at the heels but never biting down — hard. Listen here.
