Live Nation Announces Plans to Increase Concert Security in Wake of Paris Tragedy

Update: In an interview with Billboard, Le Bataclan’s co-manager not present on the night of the attack says that the venue will not shut down in response. “It will reopen, no question about it,” Dominique Revert said. “Hearts will be heavy for a few months, a few years. But we will reopen. We will not surrender.”

Live Nation has announced that they are going to increase security at their venues following the November 13 Paris terrorist attacks that killed 89 people at the club Le Bataclan during an Eagles of Death Metal concert. “The safety and security of our shows, fans and venues continues to be our highest priority,” the company said in a statement, according to the New York Times. “Due to the recent events in Paris and in an abundance of caution we have implemented heightened security procedures globally. However, because of the sensitive nature of these protocols, we cannot elaborate further on the specific details.” Other industry leaders are expected to follow suit, especially, as the paper notes, with this latest tragedy coming just a few weeks after a fire in a Romanian club killed 55 people.

Le Bataclan has also released a statement to their Facebook page, expressing their sympathies and stating that they can’t yet give concertgoers any items they left at the venue during the chaos last Friday night. Read the statement below, translated from the original French via Google:

Dear friends,

No words enough to express the magnitude of our grief.

Our thoughts are with the victims, the injured and their families.

You are likely to want to collect your belongings at the Bataclan, unfortunately the authorities still need to work on site. We will inform you when it will be possible to gather in front of the room.

Thank you for your support that touches us deeply.

Chers Amis,Aucun mot ne suffit à exprimer l’ampleur de notre chagrin.Nos pensées vont aux victimes, aux blessés et à…
