California haze-pop singer Banks is back with “Better,” a smoldering, murky new single that’s the first taste of her sophomore album. “It’s like me unleashing a growl,” she told Beats 1 host Zane Lowe of the fuzzily textured track. “I can love you better than she can,” the chorus begs as Banks’ vocals tug at every last heartstring she can grab. Banks released her debut album Goddess in the fall of 2014. She’s now opening the Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness tour and told Lowe that she’ll release an album “early, early next year.”
