Sufjan Stevens Shares Haunting Remix of ‘Blue Bucket of Gold’

Sufjan Stevens’ latest album, Carrie & Lowell, was critically acclaimed and widely hailed as a return to his folk roots following several more electronic, experimental projects. He dipped back into those synthy waters a little bit today by releasing a remix of Carrie cut “Blue Bucket of Gold.”

The electronic elements of the reworking are — all things considered — subtle, and manage to make an already painful and aching song even more haunting. Stevens is also departing for a second round of touring on behalf of Carrie & Lowell. Dates and tickets can be found here, and listen to the remix below.
