St. Vincent Dishes About Waitressing at Her Sister’s Taqueria to ‘Bon Appétit’

The delightful Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent, caused a bit of a stir this weekend when she was an impromptu waitress at the opening night of her sister and brother-in-law’s restaurant in Dallas, Texas, Resident Taqueria. The art-rock musician spoke, fittingly, with Bon Appétit about her stint waiting tables. Though she had no previous experience in the food service industry, and was planning on just having a margarita, Clark said her “Type-A, get-it-done” personality motivated her to pitch in. ”

“I had just flown in and went to the restaurant to hang out and see what the vibe was like” she told the food magazine. “When it started getting busy, it was just a case of, we saw tables that needed to be cleared, so I got a towel, and got to work.”

Clark also expressed a strong opinion when the magazine asked if she was a taco or burrito person. “Get outta here with that,” she replied. “Taco! Go back to San Francisco. I don’t need a burrito.” Read the full interview here.
