Joanna Newsom Screened New ‘Divers’ Video Last Night

The Paul Thomas Anderson-directed clip features stunning abstract artwork by Kim Keever

Joanna “Banana” Newsom (sorry, had to) is just a few days out from releasing her much-anticipated new album, Divers. Last night at New York’s IFC Center she formally unveiled her Paul Thomas Anderson-directed video for the title track.

As reported by Stereogum, the clip, which was shot at the NYC studio of artist Kim Keever, features an ethereal-looking Newsom singing winsomely while surrounded by a vast array of ballooning clouds and otherworldly landscapes (also designed by Keever, who worked on the Divers album art/packaging, too).

You can watch a fan-shot clip below, and keep in mind that the video will also be screening at theaters across the U.S. from October 16-22, and will screen in U.K. theaters on October 27. Look for the album on October 23 via Drag City.
