Christine and the Queens, Héloïse Letissier’s gender-defying, cross-medium music group, just dropped a new track that’s especially intriguing, even for her. Parts of “Paradis Perdus,” the moody, atmospheric new track off of her upcoming self-titled LP, sound very familiar, as much of it is a “reinterpretation” of Kanye West’s “Heartless.” She weaves slick, aching lines from ‘Ye’s pleading track amidst parts of and the French artist Christophe’s “Paradis Perdus.” The fascinating result is not quite a cover, as Letissier owns the distinct-sounding mashup. Stream it here, and look for Christine and the Queens on October 16.
