Christine and the Queens’ Despair Manifests Itself Physically in ‘Paradis Perdus’ Video
The cinematography here is something to behold
Christine and the Queens’ self-titled English debut album comes out on Friday (stream it here now), and now they’ve just released the “Paradis Perdus” video (a Vogue premiere). The track interpolates the chorus from Kanye West’s “Heartless,” and in the visual, singer Heloise Letissier sits in a chair in a bare room as the camera circles her ominously, her pant legs and sleeves lifting and expanding in unison. By the end, she’s left sitting in a glaringly oversized outfit, wallowing in the physical manifestation of her despair.
“The pink suit is the real protagonist of the video,” Letissier told Vogue. “It had to grow. To be alive. It had to make me feel too old and then too young, too little and then too big.?I’m lost in it.” Watch below.
