Sia Shares New Single Originally Intended for Upcoming Adele Album

"Alive," from the forthcoming 'This Is Acting,' was written with Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr.

Update: Speaking to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Sia added that This Is Acting will also contain songs originally written for Beyoncé and Rihanna, is working with FKA twigs, and has a song on Adele’s new album as well. [h/t Pitchfork]

Earlier this month, SPIN 2014 Artist of the Year Sia explained to Billboard that her upcoming follow-up to her enormous, “Chandelier”-wielding breakthrough, 1000 Forms of Fear, will be entitled This Is Acting, because all of its songs were intended for other artists, whose personae the reclusive songwriter made herself inhabit. “It’s fun,” she said, “It’s more like play-acting.” And now after previewing a snippet of its first single, “Alive,” she’s finally shared the song in full, which was co-written with Adele (for whom it was intended) and Tobias Jesso Jr. It’s as catchy and drama-swollen as anything else Sia has done, and you can listen below.
