A new documentary about Sharon Jones’ battle with stage-one bile duct cancer just opened this past weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival, and though Miss Sharon Jones! ends on a triumphant note, the iconic singer revealed that the cancer has returned. “I start chemo on Wednesday,” she told the crowd during an appearance at the festival, according to Indiewire. “But I’m gonna keep fighting. We got a long way to go.”
She addressed the crowd again after a second screening on Sunday. “I’m going to do what I have to do,” she said, according to the Toronto Star. “I’m going to sing.”
