After trading as much yesterday on Instagram, Sam Smith has attained an honor bestowed on only the greatest British crooners (and Chris Cornell). Along with his longtime collaborators Disclosure and Jimmy Napes, Smith has confirmed that he’s composed the theme song to the new James Bond film Spectre. That track’s called “Writing’s on the Wall” and it’ll be out September 25, a few weeks before the movie’s November 9 release.
This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it. You can pre-order ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ on CD or vinyl using the link on my profile, or on iTunes from midnight.
