Buffy Sainte-Marie has won the 2015 Polaris Music Prize, perhaps Canadian music’s highest honor, for her album Power in the Blood. The longtime indigenous electro-acoustic folk artist beat out Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Tobias Jesso Jr.’s Goon, the New Pornographers’ Brill Bruisers, Viet Cong’s Viet Cong, and plenty more. Sainte-Marie performed the title track and “Carry It On” during her set at the Polaris Gala. She was awarded $50,000 with the prize.
