Oakland fuzz-pop trio Shannon and the Clams have made their name over the last by taking doo-wop melodies and covering them in grime, a trick that many attempt but few can pull off as they can. Today, they’re sharing “It’s Too Late,” a new single from their forthcoming full-length Gone by the Dawn, and it’s pretty much the pinnacle of that approach. Noted Clam Cody Blanchard takes the lead here for a ballad about times long gone and lovers long past, scuffed and scuzzed by a helping of distortion and vocal grit.
