The extroverted and effusive Kelly Clarkson doesn’t seem like an obvious choice to cover a pop star as sighing and generally reserved as Lana Del Rey. But the former American Idol winner reined her more bombastic tendencies on a cover of Born to Die single “Off to the Races,” and it was still pretty stunning — Clarkson amps her trilling up nicely at the end, and even her take on Lana’s faux-rapping ends up sounding surprisingly natural.
