Fashion designer (and friend of Miley Cyrus) Jeremy Scott has redesigned MTV’s iconic Moonman statue for the 2015 VMAs. The network announced Scott’s “’90s-tinged” redesign on Monday, August 17. While the flag-wielding astronaut has been MTV’s mascot of sorts since the channel launched, it’s only the second time the trophy’s look has had a major overhaul, having been redesigned by KAWS for 2013’s show in Brooklyn. Scott’s statue is subtly rainbow colored and boasts a big peace sign necklace and the designers’ signature sneakers.
The 2015 VMAs air on August 30 on — where else? — MTV.
