As part of his victory lap following hitting number one on the Hot 100 earlier this week, Jamaican-born singer OMI made his first-ever late-night appearance last night, on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The dapper crooner of course performed that chart-topping hit, “Cheerleader,” with assistance from the Roots — including, yes, some excellent live trumpet soloing.
Watch the performance here, and also check out a web exclusive from the show, where OMI talks about the creation of his smash, including the key contributions from reggae legend Sly Dunbar (of Sly & Robbie) and German DJ Felix Jaehn in getting the song to where it is today.
