Missy Elliott headlined Canada’s Pemberton Festival last night after her bold, beautiful return to the stage at last month’s Essence Festival in New Orleans. With a catalogue that rolls more than 20 years deep now, the hip-hop legend had no shortage of hits for the nightime crowds, tossing in scorchers like “Pass That Dutch” and “Get Ur Freak On.”
Karen Civil also points out that Missy met fellow headliner Kendrick Lamar last night — please, please let this lead to some sort of musical collaboration. It’s been far too long since fans have heard anything new from the Supa Dupa Fly rapper, and though she’s been promising a comeback record for a while, the time seems hottest for the striking right now.
