Jamie Lidell‘s recent releases have covered a lot of ground. He played house diva on a collaboration with Big Data, thundering dance music magnate on his contribution to the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack, and sensitive R&B adopter on March’s “Believe in Me,” but today he’s shared a new single called “Pink Light” that takes him back to his sweetest spot, which cherrypicks the best elements from all three modes.
It’s an eerie, synth-led ballad with chattering percussion and a boisterous vocal that mirrors the otherworldly production work of his full-length records to date. It’s another standalone single, but its explorations are still overwhelmingly extraterrestrial and endearing.
