Foo Fighters don’t normally do encores, but their Wednesday night show featured a surprise appearance by a guest special enough to make them break their rule. Chad Smith, the drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, joined the Foos onstage at New York’s Citi Field for a cover of Rod Stewart’s “Stay With Me.” Smith took the drums (and beat the hell out of them) while the band’s usual drummer Taylor Hawkins came out front to provide vocals. “The only reason why we’re doing [an encore] tonight,” Grohl explained from atop his throne, “is because f—king Chad is here!”
