Hear Two New Bon Iver Songs From the Eaux Claires Festival
The untitled songs came towards the end of Bon Iver's headlining set
Worries about Bon Iver’s future status were temporarily quelled on Saturday night at the Eaux Claires Festival in Wisconsin. Closing out the second night of the festival, Justin Vernon brought yMusic and the Staves back out to play two brand new (and yet untitled) songs towards the end of the headlining set.
The first song was a falsetto-heavy ballad with strings, trumpet, and a Casio-like backing track, with the chorus shifting throughout from “I heard about it” to “I learned about it” to “I laughed about it.” The second was more anthemic, with a pounding beat, a glitching synth hook, and some absolutely gorgeous backing vocals, as Vernon sings “I won’t leave you alone / I can’t leave you alone / I’ll never leave you alone.”
