Battles, the math-rock noiseniks and self-described Networked Band, have announced a new album, La Di Da Di. Due September 18 via Warp Records, the follow-up to 2011’s Gloss Drop “is a mushrooming monolith of repetition,” reads the press release. “Here is an organic techno thrum of nearly infinite loops that refuse to remain consistent. The rhythmic genius of Battles is here as ever; full frontal, heightened and unforgiving — the gauntlet through which melody and harmony must pass, assailed at every turn.” No word on whether Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh had anything to do with it.
