Sia Spruces Up Travie McCoy’s New Solo Single, ‘Golden’

Seriously, it's as much her song as his, so don't write it off

SPIN’s Artist of the Year in 2014, Sia, has been in-demand for a while now, whether it’s as a songwriter or as a guest. It’s a big deal, then, when she actually shows up on a track in 2015 that’s not her own, but somehow, former Gym Class Heroes rapper Travie McCoy managed to score the Australian singer for a fairly substantial appearance on his new solo single, “Golden.” To be honest, it’s more a duet than Sia’s featured credit would suggest: she handles the pre-chorus, the hook itself, and a bunch of outros and mini-verses as the song progresses, sounding her absolute best the entire time. With that in mind, even if the thought of “Cupid’s Chokehold” makes you cringe, give “Golden” a chance (and ignore that terrible Patti Mayonnaise/Doug Funny line).
